Light Drawings

These light drawings are basically the light emitted from a flashlight in a dark room with the shutter set on 30 seconds. They're very fun even if they don't really come out too hot. Here's a few of them, enjoy!

Jimminy Cricket

This brave little cricket was at the pond on a very cold, windy day and was kind of enough to let me zoom in on him. I'm sorry I haven't been bloggin' lately, but I've been sick all week and didn't really do anything except lay on the couch watching Disney movies. I received a large pile of homework that took me all day to complete just half of it. It's been soo much fun that I haven't been able to contain myself....JK! Well hopefully I'll be in school next week, I think I'd rather drag myself to school sick than have to make up all that work.

Columbus Day Weekend

This weekend was great, it had not two, but three days that I was able to be away from school. Not only was I able to get away from school, but I was able to get out of state as well. My parents and I took a little vacation up to New Hampshire. It was only a few hours to get there, but we made it. Ya know what the first thing we saw was as we were crossing over into New Hampshire, it was this big sign that said "Welcome to New Hampshire, Live Free or Die" That's a tad bit violent, don't ya think. And then when we were driving to the hotel, on the median of the highway was a huge fire. Yikes, you can't always go by first impressions I guess. While we were there, we took a trip up Loon Mountain (which was right in back of our hotel), went over the Kancamangas Highway, and took a trip up to the top of Mount Washington. Probably the most fun thing of all was the trip to the top of Mount Washington. We took one of those tour vans, cause there was no way in hell I'd ever get in that little train, to get to the top. The ride was fun, except for the fact that we were less than four inches from falling off the road down the mountain side. It was so incredibly steep, you would think they would at least have a guard rail, but NO. The driver said that they don't have a guard rails to scare people so that they won't speed. I guess certain death is a good enough reason. As we climbed higher and higher up the mountain, you saw less and less trees. When we were just about at the top of the mountain, there was this sign that said "hairpin curve". I've never seen one of those signs before, but found out what it meant soon enough. It like a giant U-turn that turns so sharp that it feels like your head's going to fall off. Not the best thing to do on a cliff if you ask me. When we finally got to the top of the mountain, there was no such thing as vegetation, it was just all rocks. But it was so beautiful. It felt as if you were on top of the world. There were clouds and mountains as far as the eye could see, it felt as though you were in heaven. But the wind up there was so incredibly strong, and the cold was so bitter it felt like Antarctica. I think with the wind chill, the temperature up there was 21 degrees, very cold. I did manage to get some cool pictures on our trip and I hope everyone enjoys them. I got to go now, talk to everyone later!

Back in the Dark

Ahh, finally, back in the dark room once again developing prints. Ya know what's really odd? When I put my time and effort into a print, it comes out.....okay, but when I was just making prints for the fun of it, they come out wicked awesome!! Look at some of these double exposures that I did, aren't they cool!!! I would've gotten them done faster but the fixer in the dark room had "gone bad".....not the evil "gone bad" but the kind of fixer that will turn just about all paper in it's path gray. That's not good, but thank God I made test strips before the actual print. I can't stand it when certain people just use up all the good paper because they don't feel like making one test strip. But those people will regret what they've done when at the end of the year there's a massive paper shortage. Enjoy the prints!

Allie's Art

Here's some more pictures I made. They're okay I guess, I was just kind of playing around with my oil pastels over the summer and this is what it resulted in. The first one I call "An Eye for Art" which is the picture of the eyeball. I don't really know how it came to be an eyeball, but I was watching "Corpse Bride" when I started it so I think that's how I got along the lines of using cool colors. The second one that I call "Heart" is simply that. But when I was drawing "Heart" I had been watching "Back to the Future 3", so I have no idea why a heart popped into my head. I noticed that when I do any kind of art stuff, it always helps me when I have either a movie or music playing. I think that it relaxes me and helps me to keep loose. Like when I practicing a song on the guitar. If I tense up or start focusing too much on my finger placement and get stressed out that I can't get it, I don't play so good. But if I relax, keep on playing (even if I mess up), and have fun playing the song, I nail the thing on the first try. I really think that it's a mental process of actually controlling how you feel. But I don't feel like getting too much into that right now, maybe another time. Enjoy!

Silence to Shout!

You know, I really have been talking to different people so far, but I'm still really one of the quietest in the class. But I think that silence can also be a good thing. Silence allows one to have an extremely creative and abstract way of looking at the world, and the people in it. Instead of talking to an individual to find out more about them, you think about it. You pay attention to their facial features, whether out not they have quick or slow motions, how they react to a teacher's boring lecture of God only knows what. It gives me something to do when I'm bored. But when you do that, you need to be careful not to judge people on what you assume. I believe that you can not truly hate someone unless you know them personally. Hey, you know what I just realized, when I type at night, I write about really weird pointless stuff from the very back corners of my mind, and let me tell you, it's not a pretty place. I guess I'll call it my version of mind trippin' without the weed. You know what song I'm listening to right now, go ahead, guess.....................Nope that's not it. I was listening to "Torture Me" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers (bet you couldn't see that coming). I love that song soooo much, it's one of those songs that get permanently stuck in your head. The Bravery is another good band, they sound like they have some kind of British accent but I think that it's so cool. I wish I had an accent. Maybe I do, I guess I wouldn't really know unless I was looking at myself from someone else's perspective. I can't wait for the bitter cold mornings at the bus stop, it's much better than being baked by the sun in my opinion. My favorite seasons are the spring and fall cause it's not too hot, not too cold. It's just chilly enough to wear a light jacket, but not hot enough to fry. But I have to admit, enough though it may be very hot at times, the summer has proven itself to be a season of freedom from school, that's very cool. I wish my hair would grow just a few inches longer, then I could finally donate it. Starting last summer, I've been donating my hair to "Locks of Love" which is donating long hair to be made into wigs for cancer patients. It's a freakin' sweet organization. But I want to grow out my hair log enough to donate, and to still have long hair once I cut some off. Cause the cold weather is right around the corner and I don't want my hair too short. Wow, my mind has really skipped around a lot since the beginning of this post. I went from reading people's minds, to donating hair.....go figure. I got to go now, talk to everyone later.

The Buggier the better!!

I have been taking a lot of pictures of bugs lately. Maybe cause that's the only thing to take pictures of around the neighborhood. This dragon fly actually stayed still for me to zoom in and take the shot. Hope everyone enjoys!

Stupidest Video Clip Ever!!!

Caution!!!! This was just me testing whether or not I had the ability to upload a homemade video. This was just a short clip of me annoying my cuz with a camera that wasn't meant to make videos, it was a still camera. So that's why the quality is soo bad!!! Enjoy....Or not, it's really up to you!!!! -Love Allie

The Itsy (not so bitsy) Spider

Isn't this spider sooo cool. He looked a lot bigger when he was on the move. But there was no way I was getting that close. So I just had to wait until he kept still for me to take the shot. I saw this type of spider in my "National Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Insects & Spiders" book, and the minute I saw it I recognized it as a Marbled Orb Weaver. Wow, I really sounded geeky right there, but you know what, I don't care. For some reason, I can remember all the words to my favorite songs and the names of a lot of animal species, but I have trouble remembering my homework. I think I have a selective memory, like I can only easily remember things I enjoy learning about. Like I won't remember someone by their name, but I can recognize who they are by their voice and face. It's one of those things that are cool and annoying at the same time (like myself). Well, I got to go now. I'll talk to you all some time later, or not. It all depends on how much homework I receive tomorrow (say a prayer that it's very little). Good Night! -Love Allie

A day on the Hill

Federal Hill, Providence has got to be one of my most favorite places to go. All the best Italian restaurants in the world (in my opinion). Angelo's has the most delicious food for a great price. My aunt has been a waitress there since before I was born, and is probably the nicest one there. But their are other good restaurants on the hill also. You got Andino's, Venda Raviolie, Tony's, Haven Bros. Diner, and Zooma. Federal Hill is basically a little Italy. This weekend, I went to the Hill twice, and it was soo much fun. The first time was on Saturday and we took my sister to Zooma for her birthday. They had very good food, and a pretty restaurant, but they only gave you a very small serving and it was extremely expensive. Then we went again today so I could take some cool pictures (which came out very nice, if I do say so myself). After taking pictures, we got some cavattis and wandies to bring over to my Aunt's house. My Grampa finally moved back in with her. I'm soo happy. Maybe some time before it gets too cold he can take me deep sea fishing. He said he definitely wants to go, that should be fun. Well I got to go now, I have school tomorrow morning and I need to get up at 5:00. Good night everybody!

Seasons of Your Love

This is defiantly a Ponaganset Original. Here we have Ryan, Tim, Mallery, Nicole, Bobby, and Colten. This video was truly made by a bunch of Pot Heads. The video itself is funny, disturbing, grunge, and sick all at the same time. I guess the song is "okay" but it sounds like they tried to copy "Something in the Way" by Nirvana. And look how Kurt Cobain ended up, I hope that won't be the same fate for them, that would be terrible.

It's an Artsy Fartsy kind of Day!

Yesterday was sooo boring. My cuz was at a baby sitting course for the day (because the class is six hours long), and no one else was around, so this is when I got into my artsy fartsy mode. I decided to complete the unfinished portrait of my uncle. At first, when I started the inking process, I was sure that it was the sloppiest I have ever painted. But by the time I finished, I would have to say that it was the most perfect picture that I've ever created. I was so proud, I made no mistakes (as far as I could see), and I had all of the highlights and shadows in their rightful places. I gave it to my cousin as a gift and he pretty much loved it. My mind was acting a tad bit "off" today. Seeing I spent the day sitting on a rock at the pond (surrounded by water), I got pretty wet. Probably because my cuz and I kept on splashing me, but that's okay, I splashed her back. We were talking about really pointless topics all day, (some awfully disturbing). One of the random topics was picking a person we could spend the day with, just hanging out, doing what we normally do. We were wondering whether or not they would think us to be an absolute wacko, or that they would have fun with us. I thought they would have fun, but my cousin thought differently. But she's got a point, we are definitely not your average kids. Oh, by the way, last night I finished the last Harry Potter book!!!!!! I'm not really a big reader, but when it comes to Harry Potter, I make an exception. J.K. Rowling just writes so well, and is so descriptive, that I feel as if the words are a film playing in my head. I really think that the books got better and better as I read through the series. When they make a movie based on the seventh book, that will ultimately be the best movie ever created. Whoo-Hoo!!! Over & Out........Love Allie!

Ponaganset, here I come......

Time to go back to school, oh joy. Usually, I dread this mournful day, but not this year. My summer has been slow and boring enough to make me actually look forward to school. I can't wait to be late for Mr. Stockwell's class (with my luck I will get him for English, AGAIN), the chaos in the hallways, the mold seeping into my lungs, the pre-chewed food on the cafeteria tables, and let's not forget the lovely aroma of the cigarettes (and God only knows what else) in the locker next to mine. Despite all of the bad qualities our school might posses, I am serious when I say I want to go back. When I'm at home in the summer, and no one else is around, my day is lacking excitement. I just usually just have breakfast, work out, take a shower, and take the dog for a walk down to the pond. But at Ponaganset, their is always a risk. A risk of getting in the middle of fight, of having five fire drills in a row during Spanish Class, of inhaling a deadly stink bomb in the upstairs science wing, or even having Mr. Jackson (AAaahhhh) for a substitute. But sometimes, these stupid little problems make my day a whole lot more interesting. I can't wait to take digital photography this year, it looks pretty sweet. I was also thinking of taking a French class this year as well. A lot of my mom's side of the family is French and it seems like a lot cooler and easier language than taking a third year of Spanish. You know, I will most likely regret just about everything I said in this post by the middle of the school year, but for now, I'll leave it how it stands. Well, I g2g now, I need to make sure that I'm up at 4:00 AM tomorrow morning because I get to babysit two lovely little bundles of fun all day....Joy...........(NOT!) Night, Love Allie!

Eminem (NOT THE CANDY!)

I don't know why, but I keep on listening to eminem on my i-tunes. I have no idea why, I wish I knew. I think I like the candy better than the singer, although I don't care for sweets very much. In the course of one year, I probably only eat one bag of m&m's. They're very good, but I'm just not a big sweet eater. And for those thinking........."Wow, this kid really has nothing better to write about".......you are absolutely right. See-Ya!!!
